Tamaki can be booked through several major travel sites (Online Travel Agents or βOTAβ), and weβre grateful for the guests they bring us. But booking directly with us has a few advantages β especially for a house like Tamaki.
When you book direct, you can talk directly to us, and we can send useful links, recommendations and information that OTA messaging systems often restrict. That makes it easier for us to help plan your stay and prepare the house for your arrival.

OTA templates are designed for typical holiday rentals. Tamaki is a little different. The house is ideal for 6β7 guests and sleeps up to 8 using the traditional tatami room. We can also explain room details more clearly β for example, our twin room can be set up as two singles or pushed together as a king.
Our Toyota Alphard is a fully licensed 7-seat vehicle and one of the most useful extras we offer, but OTAs give us very little space to explain it properly. It has switchable 4WD, winter tyres and a ski/board carrier, giving guests more freedom to explore Hakuba in winter.
Ask about the rental car βBooking directly avoids most OTA commission, so we normally offer our best available rate here. Occasionally an OTA may fund its own promotion, so the difference will vary from date to date β but it is always worth checking our direct price before booking elsewhere.
We lived in Tamaki from 2008 until 2025, accumulating furniture and artwork little by little. While doing so, we raised our three children. The house sheltered and protected us when the Kamishiro Earthquake struck in November 2014. We suffered lots of damage to furniture and possessions, but the house remained standing. These experiences have created an emotional bond, to the point where we like to talk about the house in our own words and present it to you in our own way.
